winlogon.exe - Ordinal Not Found

The ordinal 204 could not be located on the dynamic link library USERENV.dll

Heres a screenshot aswell (in attachments)

userenv.dll is a module that contains application programming interface (API) functions to create and manage user profiles. userenv.dll is a system process that is needed for your Windows system to work properly. It should not be removed.

Try my previous posts for replacement.

The process "winlogon.exe" runs in the background. Winlogon is a part of the Windows Login subsystem, and is necessary for user authorization and Windows activation checks.
Note: The winlogon.exe file is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. In other cases, winlogon.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm!

I got this online,, What anti-virus are you using?

Malware often hooks into the Winlogon process, enabling the malware to load even in Safe Mode. Removing malware load points from Winlogon may require shutting down the Winlogon process. Here's how to kill Winlogon so you can remove the malware.

Hope this helps!!

Try running a full scan with Malwarebytes. If it will not run then use another computer to download and burn to CD or write to flash stick Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper, run a full scan from booted CD or flash stick.

Next boot the Win7 DVD or Repair CD to run Startup Repair repeatedly no matter what it reports -just reboot and run it again at least 3 times.

Startup Repair should automate System Restore and SFC, but if not you need to run these from the DVD/Repair CD and not from a crippled OS. Boot into System Recovery Options to run System Restore and then open a Command Line to run SFC -SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot

If these fail and you can still boot into Win7, run a Repair Install

Hi my Windows7 failed to start even launch startup repair

Follow the steps in my post. You'll need to be thorough and not miss any steps if you want this fixed.

Startup Repair is launched from the booted DVD Repair console or Repair CD, not Win7.

What are the results of the AV scans you were to run first? Can you boot into Win7 to run Malwarebytes. If not try Safe Mode. If this fails use the bootable tool linked.

running a full scan with malware bytes worked. I claim this thread. SOLVED! thanks guys!
