Whilst attempting to download security software, the installation failed. Error code 0xE0010406 appeared; how can I fix this to enable installation of security software.

Try removing your firewall and antivirus. If there is still a problem, use the antivirus removal tool. If still a problem see if you can get it to work in safe mode.

Thank you for your prompt reply.
I am 2000 miles away from my home office where I keep my discs to reload my security software, other than try de-activating my malwarebytes and Windows firewall, I am not sure if it would work.
I am not sure what the procedure is when in safe-mode

Something is blocking the installation. You can try a clean boot.

Thank you for the suggestion to initiate a "Clean Start-up".
Having read the tutorial and the replies from users who have followed the instructions, I am not very computer savy, and feel I will make a complete mess of the procedure and have greater problems than now.
