LinkDev is his username.
All he's typing is:
Code:
bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff
although... i have no idea about this

Edit: says for vista but: Boot Configuration Data in Windows Vista
Yes -- Stoopid!! I run as Administrator. Didn't even notice the op's name!!

To recover a corrupted registry is, I think , a very involved procedure and is completed more quickly by a reinstall or recover.

Could try the disable dep procedure with easyBCD though - Might just work.?

I've disabled DEP on a few machines, but only because I was purposefully doing Buffer Overflows and executing software in parts of memory where it shouldn't be executing. Besides that it is generally a good idea to leave it on. I think it is a valid question of why you are trying to disable DEP. Is it for some program? If so, you can always tell windows not to use DEP when running that program.

ok

Yes Lynkdev is my computers name. Also the RC1 is x64. I looked up in google and i found the easyBCD, but when executed it tells me first off that im going to have to install vista after it goes through and re write the boot info..stuff? after which ofcourse it just tells me the same thing--

The boot configuration data store could not be opened.
The configuration registry database is corrupt.

I dont know why this is happeneing, could just be a bad OS install.
I have no other issues tho except when i run msconfig, nothing is listed under the boot tab and i cant check anything.

im guessing i should just reinstall the RC again and see what happens.

and i did run the CMD promp as administrator and same error.

Was it a clean install. Looks like maybe you installed over Vista (upgrade)??
