error wem intalling win 7 64 bit but 34 bit works fine

I currently have Win Vista Business. its a 32 bit os. My system says I am compatible to run a 64 bit system. So I went and downloaded the new win 7 64bit, burned iso to disc, then unplugged my hdd and hooked up a new1TB drive to partition. It gets to the loading drivers and white line loads across screen then I get the new screen saying error. Something about source and an error that my configuration may have changed recently, would I like to try again or quit. shows a status starting with x0

It should work if my system says its 64bit capable.

I download the win 7 32 bit and it went through like a charm. But I dont want 32 bit I prefer to start out with 64 bit.

Could it be something with my system? operator error? or just bad iso file. Ive been back and forth for two days.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

What CPU is it?
If that 1tb hard drive is brand new, it needs formating before you can use it.

Heres the specs from the performance information in control panel
I thought the 1tb format would start with windows install? Doesnt the os format the hd prior to fresh install. When i went through the win 7 32 bit install, it asked for formatting options. I cant get this far on win 64 bit.

Can you format that 1tb hard drive and try win7x64 install again?

DO you have a usb hub with things plugged in? I got a hang because I had an oddball cam in one port. Unplug anthing thats not needed for the install. Hope its as simple as that.

OK, heres update. I formatted 1tb drive, removed all devices from computer and tried installing 64 bit win 7. Same error, same everything. Very frustrating wasting so much time on this. Could there be something wrong with the actual iso download from ms?
After loading files white progress bar finishes, I get a windows failed to start.
info: unexpected error occurred.
Status: 0xc0000225
A recent hardware of software change might be the cause.
1: Insert Windows installation disk

2: Choose language.

3: Click repair computer.

Is this windows 7 even worth all the headaches?

This is going to sound odd but I have the same error in a different thread. Keep your win7 boot dvd in the drive but do not hit a key to boot from it, let it pass by and skip to the hard drive. I think your bootloader is mismatched.

I just tried that and I got a BOOTMGR is missing. ??? I wonder if I can copy from the 32 bit version that worked into 64bit version on disk. ?
How long did you wait for it to bypass and start install? I waited about 15 minutes but only had the error message.

Oh man that sucks..mine starts immediately after the cd drive stops waiting i get the same 0xc0000225 error if i leave the dvd out and hit the windows 7 option so i know there is a problem in my boot mgr as well.

Interesting, has anyone submitted this problem to MS?

It could be a corruption problem in the iso you burned, an incompatibility with hardware, bug, or a number of any other issues.

When does the boot mgr missing appear? Is this after it attempts to restart to continue or restart the setup?

When system first starts up it prompts to start with cd or dvd, press any key. After this a white bar loads across screen says loading files. Once that finishes it says install windows with ems. other option is memory test. I chose the install with ems by default and after this is when I get the error.

Hay Anthony, Ill try again this evening when I get back home. Yes, I used imgburn, but not sure I checked what speed it was writing. Im also going to try and contact MS to see if its just a bug in their bootmgr. Thanks

Hi webhead, i think Anthony has hit the nail on the head. Although, personally i'd burn @ less than 4x if possible. The install.wim file is over 3GB so burn errors are bound to appear at higher speeds.

man, bummer. I tried burning at 4x, 3x aws and even 1x. All give same error. Theres a glitch in the install or bootmgr on the download. I was really hoping to give this windows 7 rc a try, but it just isnt working. Kinda makes me think of the im a pc and im a mac commercial. Very dissappointing and frustrating. I even downloaded the file again last night and tried first thing this am. no go. ???

Hay Anthony. I wont give up if I can get a viable solution or more suggestions to try. Ive gone over this download and imgbrn with various slow speeds a dozen times. The current method just doesnt seem to work for me. I sincerely think it must be a glitch in the download. It could always be operator error, but Ive gone through this a dozen times or more and all have the same error. Any other ideas on what to try? Thanks
