Error with compatibility in setup

Acpi is not complient, help!

if booted from disc in dos it says error 5.

Im using a AMD Ga-7zx gigabyte motherboard.

I suppose that when you refer to DOS you mean that you get "error 5" after loading the setup's graphical interface, right?
If that's right then I suggest you to go to your BIOS' setup and set everything to it's defaults and then try to boot the Windows' setup again.
Is true that your motherboard is a little old but I've installed Windows 7 even in older systems without problems at all, so... try that and came back to tell us if it solved your problem. I'll be here for helping you.

Hi your advice didnt work. It gets the ''Canot boot from cd. Code 5'' message before it loads the setup..
Could the dvd be damaged?

And in Xp it loads the setup but says. This computer is not compliant with the ADVANCED CONFIGURATION AND POWER INTERFACE (acpi) standard. Contact manufacturer for a BIOS update. Could it be the power supply as strange as that seems.

I have no idea it boots fine from the xp boot disc so the dvd rom is fine..

any and all help is apreciated im going to try my friends windows7 DVD tomorrow to see if it installs from his one.

Yes, you can try with another DVD and if that doesn't results you can try tweaking things in power configurations at BIOS Setup. Maybe you can try a memory test using, for example, MemTest86+ but I doubt it's a memory problem... anyway, it could be if you can't get things solved after the tests I mentioned before.
If RAM is OK too, try replacing your PSU... there could be lots of possibilities.
Try all that and come back to tell us your results.

Did you check your computer maker's Support Downloads webpage to see if there is a BIOS upgrade for your model?

yea the bios upgrade got an error said the file doesn't exist. The other DVD did the same. ill check the power configurations at BIOS Setup. Wouldn't a normal memory check detect any problems? hope its not the memory.. but if there were problems with the PSU or memory wouldn't it NOT be able to boot. i remember once my friend had a PSU problem it booted all the way to the windows loading screen then it kept restarting.. But i've never seen a PSU problem like this...

If your PSU is failing in some way it could be sending incorrect voltage values to different places inside your computer. You can't never discard that it could be a PSU problem because if it is sending bad voltage values to memory, you'll got memory errors, for example. If it send incorrect voltage values to your hard disk it could make your disk's read/write operations to fail, generating non-physical defective sectors. Also, it could just do nothing and blow up in any time! :shock:
What I mean to say is that a PSU problem could deliver random errors and skipping a test because you just assume that's not the problem could give you hour of headaches.
I'm just basing my arguments on my own experience after working years fixing computers.
Also, is cheaper to get a PSU to test than a memory, right?
