[SOLVED] ERRORS: No Such Interface Supported

I wasn't sure where to post this (BSOD crashes, maintenance and fixes, etc...) so i just put it here. ADMIN feel free to move it to the correct spot

First the catalyst:
caught the virus "av antivirus 2012" and manually removed it.
system worked fine until i rebooted.
(i hibernated instead of shut down for a few days, the processes were dead so no urgent need to reboot during self-repair hotfix. I'm very good at removing viruses. even Vundo)

Now the symptoms:
Clicking on.....
My Computer: "No Such Interface Supported"
c:\ "No Such Interface Supported"
Explorer.exe: opens in the background and is idle. does not open a folder.
Any control panel: "No Such Interface Supported"

the symptoms were much worse but i managed to get it to this point.

Repairs already attempted from reading other posts:
-installed the latest IExplorer (even though i use Firefox. saw this on several threads)
-re-registered all .DLL files (Windows 7 Error "No such interface supported" - Operating Systems)
-Attempting making a new user account - new user account has the same problem
-Attempted copying CLASS and CLSID keys from administrator account to the effected user account (Administrator account works fine.)
-Attempted restoring default file associations downloaded from TinyLimp er.. i mean MicroSoft

Repairs unable to make:
no Win7 CD to do an install fix. (can't create one either, CD burner is fried)

Points of interest:
the Administrator account is unaffected and works fine.
any New User Account i create is having the same issues.

Current thought of error:
error must be contained in the user account registry OR in the user account profile folders. I say this because the Administrator account has no symptoms, but any newly created user accounts do.

Any help would be appreciated.
I'd hate to lose all the installs that are exclusive to this user only.

I"m still holding out for an answer but in the mean time,
to get my folders back, i switched to Exploer++ (plus plus)
(in the tools/options you can tell it to replace the default explorer)

I'd still prefer to have my old explorer back so if you do know a solution to the problem then let me know.

Fixed

Problem is fixed.

CCRegistry Cleaner was able to fix all problems with it's default scan and repairs.

i have the same issue, and try ccleaner registry tool ,"scan for issues " ---> "fix "

but still not work, can you tell me which tool you did ?

First clean your temp files (see this article: Find the Temp Folder in Vista and Windows 7 )

clean all temporary internet files and all cookies.

then run CC cleaner with these settings:

along with

then reboot.

That's what solved mine. if that doesn't help yours then you have a different issue.

finally i resolve this issue

it's registry problem,
add CLASS_ROOT "POWER USER" FULL CONTROL (if your user is in "power user " group)
then remove "power user"

restart ,done

Go into Regedit and go to HKey classesroot and then goto CLSID and right click choose permissions and add the user that has the problem, then check the read permissions box and close, then you will not get the interface Error when trying to open computer. It is a permissions error./ I just solved this problem that was getting the Interface is Not supported Error when trying to open Explorer.exe, Computer or any folder. I added the currently logged in user read permissions to HKCR CLSID.

Still no!

I've had this problem for a very long time, but it only came up when trying to open a file that opened with Windows Media Player, my PC came with it. I've done what you've said but the "Read permissions" box was already checked as the user was an administer. Any help please? This is very disappointing as it's probably the only major issue I've had with this PC so far since I got it in 2009...

I would just make sure you give yourself full permission

All i can say is to give yourself full permissions for that registry key.:shock: Maybe damn

I had the same problem and tried to download CCleaner but it wont let me download it. "no such interfacce supported"

I had the same problem.
"No such interface supported" popped up when I ran an .exe file.

I tried:

1. changing the registry. I followed the instruction from this webpage: Windows cannot find .EXE error?
2. running CCleaner, Glary Utilities, SlimCleaner, Free Window Registry Repair, Auslogics Registry Cleaner and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. No result.

Nevertheless, I managed to repair my Windows 7 thanks to this webpage: Windows - Unable to run executable files (. Exe)
Solution 2 resolved my problem.
