Using Windows 7 home premium 64 bit.

Is Erunt still the best way to backup the registry in W 7, even 64 bit?

I still using it after changing to Win 7 64bit from xp.
However, whether it actually works ok or not I've luckily yet to find out!! :)

I discovered what may be a safer way. Using W7's regedit, one can simply export everything to another location and it seems to work fast. How to ensure it really exported "everything" is something I have to check.

The current version of ERUNT is compatible with Windows 7, including 64-bit. However, with Windows Vista, it is still necessary to turn off UAC.

Thank you Corrine. Which do you think is safer, simply using regedit to export everything or using Erunt?

It isn't a matter of "safer" but rather completeness. A regular registry export will not include all areas of the registry (i.e., the Security hive). In addition, if you then import the exported registry file, it will be merged with the current registry. The process won't delete anything that has been added since the export.

Thank you. That is what I needed to know.

You're welcome. (You know, you can always do both. It certainly wouldn't hurt.)
