Hey guys..
I see that on the Antec 1200 case, there's a eSATA port in front. Does that mean I can connect a HDD to that port and Windows 7 will recognize it, as if it was installed directly to the motherboard?

You would have to have an enclosure for a SATA drive to provide the eSATA connector that would connect to the front eSATA input.

And if you're going to buy an enclosure like that, pick up one with some ventilation. Unless you use the new cooler running drives, they can get pretty warm.

I was thinking just connecting the HDD (still in the other PC) to the eSATA port to restore some files, with something like this:

Yeah, you can use an eSATA to a SATA cable if you just have to pull a few things off the drive. You could also pop the side off the case and just plug into an internal port and do the same thing with a standard SATA cable.

I highly recommend using eSATA, when I had my port working, it made it so that I could run my OS off an external drive without worrying about slow speeds from USB.

That's the thing.. then my warrenty voids, so I saw this as a nice alternative.

I can't see how you'd void the warranty. How else would you add more RAM, a new video card, or another HDD?

Opening up the computer should not void your warranty.

The PC was prebuilt from a company here in Norway and has a 3 year warranty.. I thought if you actually opened the case those 3 years were gone. The one I'm sitting on now had those check stickers on the case which breaks. Maybe there's regulations difference between brand PC and built-it-for-you PC's, i need to check that..
