Ok so to start off let me say that for the past two hours i have been searching through every google link/ forums about every single type of problem that people have been having relating to their internet being disconnected during various times.

I have tried the following solutions with no success.

Resetting Modem/Router
Uninstalling Bonjour
Setting my speed/duplex to auto
Cmd netsh reset catalog thingamajig
Changing to a different ethernet cable/ port in my house
Uninstalling any latest software that was installed
Updating any drivers that needed

My Computer specs are
Sony Vaio Laptop
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
4 Gigs Ram
Intel Core 2 Duo Proc 2.10GHz
ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4650

Network Adapater is Marvell Yukon 88E8055 PCI-E Ethernet Controller

Ok from what i have seen its not a problem with my wireless card because when i go over my friends house and connect to his wireless network i can stay connected no problem. The problem is that when im home i do not have a wireless router and i connect my laptop via ethernet cable...every other computer in my house has no problem staying connected to the internet. At first i thought it was Firefox acting up so i switched to Google Chrome, but alas the problem persists. Ive read through 50+ pages of advice on what to do but i think i have a unique problem here.

When my computer is sitting idle, my internet connection stays, for instance as im typing this i can stay connected. But the second i move my mouse or click on a search bar, or hit enter after typing something into google, my internet goes crazy and keeps connecting and disconnecting every few seconds. Hopefully someone will have some insight for me as i am trying very hard not to do a clean OS install...
thanks alot

This may have something to do with having no Windows 7 support for the Marvell Yukon 88E8055. The most recent drivers for that are dated to 06 and are only made for XP.

I would keep looking at the Sony site for updated drivers. I would look for you but I'm not sure of the exact model of Sony Vaio you have.

If you can extract the files contents (which you may not be able to do) then you could try installing using the have disk method.

But, Sony has configured their installer to check Windows version cause,, well whatever reason,, version checking is kind of a dated thing and really shouldn't be used in my opinion. But.... it's sony, 'nuff said

Have you tried a virus scan?

Also, uninstall any mouse software that might be installed.. This is a strange issue, caused by mouse movement?

Call Sony, but they probably won't provide support at all, even pay support, if 7 was not the original OS.

Other than that for driver support, not really. You are pretty much stuck till sony pulls their heads out and provide it, or marvell does.

ok so oddly enough i did call sony...and as usual after 45 minutes of listening to someone i can barely understand he did remote access downloaded a driver and disabled IPv6 and its seems to be working fine now...what i find funny though is, my internet has yet to cut out since he fixed it...i log into the forums here to post and my internet wont stay stable hahahaha

Looks like Sony doesn't have a working driver for that old eithernet controller.

It's kinda pathatic that they told you to disable IPv6. Homegroup sharing will not function without it so basically he told you to disable the best sharing feature on Windows 7 just to make their eithernet controller work and it still doesn't work so what was the point I wonder.

Let me look around for another driver.

OK, try here for the 64 bit network driver. It might be different than the one you have now. The network drivers in the link below are dated 10/12/09
