Ethernet controller/network adapter issues windows 7. Rt8168

Hello Roy hope you and yours are all well, thank you for the response.
Well over the years the main wireless adapter we used was
Sitecom USB Adapter 300N X3
Model – WL-345 v1 001

There was also another unbranded which broke.
I have never used the Ethernet connection at the back due to not being by a cable and don’t own any plug socket wireless adapters. I tried a direct connection last week but it did not work

When this problem occurred last week I tried to use another wireless usb adapter I have.
Mediatek RT2870.

I have both adapters to hand with their drivers, currently none are installed as I was awaiting next instructions.
In my device manager there is no Network adapters tab/drop down unless I select show hidden devices.
Under the network adapters tab are 14 ‘adapters’
MICROSOFT ISA TAP Adapter
MICROSOFT ISA TAP Adapter#2
MICROSOFT ISA TAP Adapter#3
MICROSOFT ISA TAP Adapter#4
RAS Async Adapter
Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
WAN Miniport (IKEv2)
WAN Miniport (IP)
WAN Miniport (IPv6)
WAN Miniport (L2TP)
WAN Miniport (Network Monitor)
WAN Miniport (PPPOE)
WAN Miniport (PPTP)
WAN Miniport (SSTP)

In Network & Sharing/ change adapter settings – there are no connections in the folder.

Attached is the zip folder

Regards

R

Hi Rohan,

Try the download from their site here,

http://www.sitecomlearningcentre.com/products/wl-345v1001/300n-usb-adapter-x3/downloads

As for the drivers under Network, you can ignore them. all added extras.

As your not showing an Ethernet driver, which you might need in the future, i suspect its currently sat in other devices, with a ! on it.- no driver - you uninstalled it the other day

You wont have anything under Network sharing, at the moment as there's no internet
notes
when you install the driver, you will need the SSID,password, from the Sky/Virgin/BT etc hub
After you reboot its possible that MS will update/install a newer driver

Evening Roy.

The Sitecom adapter installed successfully but upon restart in device manager it shows up under network adapters with a yellow !.
The utility with the adapter wont open. I have my ssid etc all to hand just not sure where to punch it in.
I can send some pics of what I see when I right click on the adapter. Apologies I have had to use the phone cam

Hi Rohan,

lets try the silly way
note Mediatek bought out Ralink hence the difference on the screenshots driver name/provider.

Please update the driver from the update option
select
Browse my computer >>> let me pick >> UNTICK show compatible hardware ..

Scroll down to Sitecom, left hand column then in the right hand column select any USB n/300 driver
i can see 2 versions listed

the base drivers originally came from Ralink, so if the above fails try one of their usb drivers

solution

a week ago same problem faced to me.
this is totally driver problem. i think ethernet/wlan card drivers has a certificate and it ends.

i have a realtek ethernet adapter it stops working without reason. even on linux & windows same time
i totally freak out re install windows and also linux and try live linux distros no chance.

then i complately uninstall drivers and download realtek driver from web site (my chipset realtek 6168) and here is the magic after the installing windows drivers chipset resets itself and now it working both linux and windows.
