Ethernet over Power

My ultimate goal is to get Media Center Extender working with my xbox360. However, I'm wondering if anyone has done this with Ethernet over Power and wireless.

The error I'm receiving states my personal firewall is blocking. However, I've totally disabled it(brink of uninstalling it), no other firewall is running. I can see the 360, I enabled ping and can ping it.... but the extender does not connect.

My PC is running Windows7 64bit and is connected to my ATT Uverse's 2wire gateway/router via Ethernet over Power. I do have the standard dell xps mcafee antivirus and personal firewall. My 360 is setup via wireless g to the Uverse 2wire gateway/router.

Any reason why ethernet over power might cause a problem? I'm not saying it is, just wondering if it would.

Any help is appreciated.

I can't think of any reason why it would cause problems, but I can imagine that it might. It's a newer tech and newer techs tend to have problems. Why don't you try it over wireless and/or regular ethernet to see if that is your problem?

If it just isn't connecting, then it is a different issue. Ethernet over power will work, but in many cases if you want to stream HD content you are going to need direct ethernet wired. You have a chance of dual band N working, but depends on how close you are. There are many issues that the 360 won't connect. With the error you are stating, it sounds like your router may be doing something with the traffic. For example one known issue happens when the router is blocking ports or not port forwarding. There is also an issue on some with broadcast or multicast traffic.

Thanks for the info. I've tried the opening of ports, I'll check the port forwarding.

You will most likely need to uninstall that third party firewall to get this working. Disabling them won't work most of the time.
