Ethernet port not working

I just turned on my computer and windows is telling me that my Ethernet port is un plugged. Reinstalling the drivers for it didnt help. When i try and plug it in, the orange and green lights flash in this pattern: O . . . O G G G . . . and repeats. On other Ethernet ports the green on stays on and the orange one flickers. Is there any way i can install a new one? It looks as though the port is mounted on the
motherboard and I dont want to buy a new one.

If you have a an open PCI slot you can add a card which should do the trip for you

Please enter your System Specs.

So you are plugging your Ethernet cable into your router, and your router is giving you the orange/green combo?

Power down, wait one minute, and power up your router.

Is this a wireless router?

You can also try a hard reset on the router.

Can you ping your router?

@kipper thanks, I didn't know they sold pci slots for
more ports.

@lemur it was the port on my computer, sorry if I wasn't clear. Taking your advice and an article I read and powered down my computer and unplugged it for about an hour or so and now it works fine.
