Hey guys,

I have been using Windows 7 Professional for about 2 months now, I got a copy from microsoft through a course at school. It is fully updated/activated and has been running great for both months(unlike that silly beta).

The problem I have run into, to my knowledge, is caused by a windows service and/or driver. I installed visual studio 2008 on Wednesday, restarted the comp, programmed in VS, did some late night torrenting and when I went to use my comp on thursday I had lost my internet connection.

Network Manager states that the cable is plugged in(notices when I unplug aswell) and that windows is identifying my network(which after 5min says its an unidentified network). Using the windows "Diagnose" feature states that Windows is perfect and that it is my router that is crapped out. However, the Xbox that has been connected to the router for almost 48 hours (thanks to COD6:D) and the laptop I am currently on are both WIRED to the router and work flawlessly.

I can disable the adapter no problem, however when I attempt to enable it, the dialog pops up saying "enabling" and just hangs(I can task manager out of it, not a whole comp hang). When attempting to uninstall the driver from device manager it does not acknowledge anything like pretending I never even clicked install(however I unistalled/reinstalled the driver no problem from safe mode) I have tryed system restore for two previous dates prior to this mishap, with no luck what so ever..

W7 has been great to me other then this random happening, I just reformatted and am not really up for another....

Any idea which windows services I should attempt fiddling with to get it going again?
I dont care if I mess it up more then it already is, all I need is the interwebs!

I am 100% sure it is Windows, because the router works fine, my vista pc works fine wired or wireless, as does my Xbox

If someone could point me in the right direction(opposite of a reformat :P if possible) I would love you forever!

(unlike that silly beta).

That "silly beta" was pretty much perfection. I've used every build possible (that made it to public somehow) since 7000 inclusive and have not had even one issue to speak of. The only exception was that in one build (7022), Microsoft purposely stripped Readyboost for whatever reason, from it. Most likely for testing purposes.

The betas were so good that people were making petitions to Microsoft to hurry with the RTM release. First time I'm aware of that this has happened.

Anyhow...you're best bet to fix it is to install this from NVIDIA.
