Hi Everyone,

I can't seem to load event viewer. It gives me "MMC Cannont Create The Snap-In" but nothing else is stated about the error.

How do I fix? I tried toggling windows net framework on and off and I also ran sfc... but I'm still getting the problem. It's like the snap in for it doesn't exist.

Hello,
Try toggling on .Net framework, then Repair .NET Framework, from within Program/Features.
Does this problem exist if you log in to an Administrator Account, before launching MMC?
It is not necessary to use MMC. You can launch Event Viewer directly from the Start Menu :orb: Search Box.

My basic log in account is a admin account as far as I know. I have never set up an ordinary account except when I have guests (trusted family members) using my computer. I launched event viewer from Start Menu Search Box and I still get the error.

Here's a screen shot of it.

Well I managed to fix it myself. I went into Registry editor and into the MMC snapin section....

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MMC\SnapIns

Since my error message did not provide any details about what caused the error, I deleted all the keys that referenced event viewer. I made backups of each key I deleted and then rebooted my machine and voila the problem is fixed. Can use event viewer once again without problems.

Not sure what corrupted the registry keys but problem is resolved.
