Event Viewer: New Entries Under App. & Service Logs -> Microsoft

hi all,

i always check my boot time from event manager following this pattern:

Event viewer -> Applications and Services log -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Diagnostic Performance -> Operational

off late, i have noticed under Microsoft i get another entry along with Windows. it is IEResp. this was not present earlier.

further under Diagnostic Performance, there was only operational but now there are two more entries i.e Diagnostic and Diagnostic -loopback.

i have observed that my booting time has also gone up.

are these entries valid? why have they turned up? is it ok to keep them or is there any thing i need to do since these entries have turned up.

kindly drop ur views.
thanks,

IE Resp is part of Internet Explorer and is used to run certain webpage scripts. Nothing to worry about there.

The other diagnostics I remember reading about being part of a Windows Update to allow more thorough diagnostics and troubleshooting of network devices. Also, nothing to worry about. Any other questions?

thanks for the reply....i really appreciate it....as for the booting time...it has automatically came down from 1:44 to 1:14.

just a quick question.....i have old bios of 2010 and while i checked the intel site...there are couple of new bios available....shud i update the bios? i am bit worried to update bios cuz its a very tricky business (as i have read on net). is installing bios as simple as installing softwares/programs, e.g running the installer file (.exe)? or do i need to do something more? kindly advice

BIOS updates are less risky than they used to be, but they still can lead to a nonworking motherboard and system. We usually only advise BIOS updates if people are having problems with their systems crashing or other stability problems. My desktop has a 2009 BIOS version and runs fine, and I have seen BIOS versions as old as 2007 work with Windows 7 just fine. The year is not that important as long as the system is working well.

I checked, there is nothing you could want to take advantage of friend.
You should never update BIOS code just because there is a later version, only if it provides new functionality, or better stability. So leave well alone, the last 11, which is all, posted by Intel all concern being able to update by a variety of methods !
