Events Viewer

I am running Win 7 Pro, 32 bits

I was trying to run down a problem with Windows Explorer crashing and wanted to check the Events Log. When I went to check it it I got this:

I then check Services and got this:

There is no Events Viewer service shown, or I don't know how it is listed.

I need a little help to get Events Viewer running.

where did you get your win 77 image from?

do you have a backup from before the problem?

Not sure what you are asking. I got my Win 7 Pro on the student purchase program from Microsoft.

do you have a backup from before the problem?

I am not exactly sure when the problem started, but I do have Acronis backups as long ago as 7/20/2010. I actually have an image made when Win 7 was installed before any programs were installed. I really don't want to go back that far. I may resort to putting the 7/20 image back.

I see not having the events logs available as a bigger issue than the crashing of Windows Explorer.

whs i followed that link and as I see it, he had more options under event viewer than I have. Actually I have no options unless I can get the events service turned on.

I have no idea how to get the events service turned on.

I do have Win 7 installed on another small pc and everything on it seems to work fine. I can see all the events logs.

Try running chkdsk /r
please noticed the space between the (k) and the (/)

I put back an Acronis image made a month ago and now I have the Event Viewer.

I cleared several of event logs so I can now check those without having to wade through a multitude of error reports.

Windows Explorer is still crashing . It only does it once with a new boot then runs fine until I reboot again. Hopefully I can now track it down.

One error that showed was I have a bad sector(s) on one or both hard drives, but hard drive checker does not show any bad sectors.

I then went to the Action Center and got this info:

Then I looked at more details:

Seems the error is caused by Video Hardware. I use onboard video.

I got a screen shot of even more detail, but it so small you can not read it. It was essentially about the .dmp file, with no real help.

I then had it try to find a solution and that came back "No Solution found".
I sent the error report (where ever it goes) perhaps someone will find a solution.

I guess I will live with the problem until something is found.
