I have a PC that I just upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 32 bit from Windows XP and now I'm having trouble with the display on my Syncmaster 953BW Monitor. Everything is blurry and the monitor wants to run at 1440 x 900 resloution which is supposed to be the native resloution for the monitor. Everything on the screen also seems really narrow and doesn't full by the browser like it should.

When I try to drop down to a lower resolution, the display area on the monitor shrinks and I can't figure out how to stretch it out to fit the screen. At a lower resolution, things do not seem as blurry to me. I don't know how to fix this problem. I hope the following specs are enough to give you all the information you need to maybe help me out!

My machines specs are at http://speccy.piriform.com/results/KPbp6k5LpuQfJhFCwvMmwMa

I attached a screen shot of how my screen looks as well.

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
The screen shot doesn't look all that bad to me so I would take a picture with a camera and post it to see if there's any difference
Make sure you turn off the flash of course.

I saw your using ie11 ?
Open it and Gear symbol on the top right and internet options or access control panel and internet options,
Go to the Advanced section and Check the top box there Use software rendering instead of gpu rendering,
Apply and okay.
Close ie11 and restart your machine and see if that makes any difference

Otherwise your graphic's card is pretty low end 512mb
You might think of up[grading it ?

Also if you haven't already try to calibrate your monitor or test with another one.

Thanks for your reply! My PC has IE 11 on it, but I'm not using it. I use the Chrome browser. I'll try what you suggested, though. You are right about the graphics card and, although I'm not a gamer, I think I need to get a new one to improve the situation.

I did, of course, get the latest software drivers available for my equipment from the manufacturers websites and that is what I'm using right now. The Windows Update website wants to install two different drivers that are MS certified, I wonder if I should try it?

Thanks and I'll update you later!

Hi,
Chrome has a similar setting in advanced setting "Use hardware acceleration when available" most people do uncheck that item if it is checked same goes for Firefox and Pale moon

I would try the certified drivers offered by M$
But if you upgrade your gpu a 1gb asus... should be fine and around 100.us or less
Try to get one with it's own fan so at least it stays cool and doesn't rely on the existing case fans to cool it.

Bought new video card, how to I hook it up to the power supply?

I bought a new video card at Microcenter, a Gigabyte GV-N370-2GI today, which the salesman told me would work, and brought it home to install. I can't figure out how to hook it up to my power supply! My old video card hooked up via a six-pin connection. The new card doesn't have anywhere to plug power into that I can see. Am I blind or did I get the wrong card?

I also am running Windows 7 Professional N 32 bit and have installed 4 additional GBs of RAM, but the system only says that 3.00 GB are usable. Why? Is this something else that I missed? Should I take the extra 4 4 GB of RAM back to the store?

Help!

Hi,
I can't find anything on that card :/
I don't know where they pulled that sucker out from but it seems really old or something
It obviously doesn't need extra power from the psu which isn't unusual but just not finding it anywhere is odd to say the least

32 bit systems 3gb is normal you'd have to buy a 64 bit system for windows to see more
Micro center is not the greatest place to get a gpu they have a poor stock most of the time

I'd hit up Newegg or Amazon for more options
Also stick with ASUS or EVGA graphic's cards
Now you know how many power pins the card uses now you'll be better able to get the correct card.

You really need to know what watt power supply you have
There's a sticker on the power supply that will tell you. 300w/ 400w/ 500w..

Video Card Issues

Here is the new video card I bought today at Microcenter Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 2GB DDR3 Video Card GV-N730-2GI - Micro Center In reading through the description of it. In the specification for it under the Thermal & Power listing it says "Power Connectors
(1) PCI-E 6-pin". That sounds like what I need but I do not see anything on this video card that looks like where you'd plug the power into.

My motherboard is a BIOSTAR Group TP43D2-A7.
My power supply is a Antec TruePower Trio 550W 2.0 ATX 12V v2.0 power supply with a 120mm fan.

I will return the card and try again tomorrow.

Yea than one gets all power from the motherboard
Take the other one with you
Look for a asus or evga graphic's card instead with the same connection and 2gb.

You might also take notice of the power supply that you have take a picture of the tag that's on it for what watt it is 300w 400w...

My PSU is 550 watts, so it should have plenty of power. I'm returning the video card I bought today to the store and will see what else I can find.
