Has anyone encountered this issue before with Excel 2000 in Windows 7 (professional 32bit). We are testing windows 7 on some Pc, and those users are using Office 2000. Everything works fine, however, sometimes users launch excel (by double clicking on an XLS file) and excel come up like the attached image. It's like the status bar at the bottom is dragged up and nothing can be seen. It looks slightly different if Excel is not maximized (the lines go diagonal). I've tried compatability mode for XP SP2 and SP3, but it stll happens, but being an intermittent problem it's had to diagnose. Any help with this appreciated.

Regards

Office 2003 works perfectly in Windows 7 as well.

However, it looks as though you have a third party software associating itself with .xls files.

Office 2007/2010 is not an option as we have thousands of users so the cost of upgrading everyone is too much and the business had so many spreadsheets (that run the business) that they would all have to be tested to be working any new version of excel that it would take too long to upgrade everyone "big bang". We are rolling out 2007, ut it's a slow process.

No, that's excel, not something else. It just looks like that some times.

As Bill2 said Office 2000 is not compatible with Windows 7
The only option is to use a newer version
