I am running Office Professional 2007 under W7 64 bit. I can open all programs from Explorer except Excel. This problem has surfaced recently but I don't know exactly the time and can't therefore go back to an earlier restore. I have looked on forums and see that one resolution is to untick 'Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) within Excel (Office Button/Excel Options/Advanced/General) but when I looked here it the box was already unchecked.
I have a 120GB SSD as C: with my data across an HDD configured as D: and E: (E: in this instance.)
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Irene -Unfortunately the box 'Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)' was already unticked. I tried ticking it, rebooting and then unticking it but to no avail.
Does anyone else have any ideas?
Thank you

I fixed the issue by going back to the earliest restore point that I could see in the machine. Have reloaded Visio 2007 without issue thus far. Thanks for all your help.

There was a problem sending the command to the programme - It's back again (I have been liviing with it for a few days) and it drives me crazy.
I restored to an earlier set up and problem went away... but (thank you Microsoft - not) the restore reset Windows Update to automatic, so unbeknownst to me, my machine after the restore went and gave itself latest updates and lo and behold the problem is back again. By the time I noticed, the restore point I used is no longer available so at the moment I am stuffed. Why only Excel! It's easy to work around but why should I have to? It's very annoying indeed to effectively have my machine 'interfered' with like this.
Anybody got any ideas please?
Thank you

No. Was a bit wary of trying to be honest. I also reloaded Visio before or shortly after the machine went and updated itself. I might try uninstalling that first (but am using it today)
Will let you know
