Exclaimation mark by WPD FileSystem Volume Driver

I have a yellow exclaimation mark by a device under Portable Devices in Device Manager. It is titled WPD FileSystem Volumne Driver.

I tried Updating the driver but I get back a message saying I have the latest driver. Under properties for the driver it says, "This device cannot start. (Code 10).

As far as I know my sound and volumes are working correctly. Is it safe to just deleted this driver?

solution

i got he same problem my nokia is on mass storage and could work properly due to the wpd file system error well.. by trial an error i came with a solution so forget about the driver of wpd file system

open computer management by right click on
1. my computer - manage
2. disk management - select your portable storage
3. right click and select change drive letter and paths..
4. add and tick on assign the following drive letter (any letter u wish for..) and OK it will allow you to open and used ur portable storage.. and the WPD file system storage will still remain with the exclamation symbol!

Installed it, rebooted and waited a little bit. It did detect it and installed it as expected, but then went into a detect and install loop.

Thanks Azzubair, that worked for me. I have a USB stick which suddenly stopped being recognised by Laptop #1 but is recognised by Laptop #2. Your fix now allows Laptop #1 to see the stick.

The simplest way I can think of is using cmd. Here are the steps.
1. Open elevated CMD.
2. Type diskpart.
3. Type list disk.
4. In the result, choose your drive by the disk size.
5. Type select disk x (x being the disk number of the one you want.)
6. Type assign.
That's it
