Solved Exit all programs shortcut. Does it exist?

hi,

Sometimes I just want to shut every window on screen but of course you can't. So you have to step-by-step shut individual windows...Isn't there a way to just shut all open windows or something? I've wanted something like this for a long time.

Lol it doesn't help! But only because my problem is not that I want a shortcut to shutdown the computer, what I need is a shortcut which closes all application windows I have open. So now we are left with just the desktop showing. I think that's clearer!

If you are satisfied with simply hiding them, you could show the desktop. Click the button at the lower-right of the taskbar, or press Win+D.

The thing that wasn't clear to me in that tutorial is whether that method just closes windows, or closes Windows? When using it, does one remain at desktop?

The only purpose that I can see for something like this, is that it is recommended to close all other programs, when installing another. Usually, I'm too lazy to really do that, and only close the ones that are visibly open, like those displaying a taskbar icon, not those running in the System tray.

In the past, I had used Outertech's Batchrun to creat a shortcut that would do this, but it requires adding each program manually, and then updating it as required when the situation changes.

Every poster has different needs. I for one, have no need or desire to shut down all my windows simutaneoulsy. I thought that regarless of the original intent of the Tut, it would serve the poster's needs. I did not think that the specifics of your question would be a concern to the poster and do not give it much thought.

I'm not certain about the OP, but this appears to be the right tool for me.

EDIT: I just tested it, and unfortunately, it is not exactly what I hoped for. While it did close windows open on the Taskbar, it didn't touch those running in the System Tray.

This awesome tool doesn't kill the processes, but it can hide all windows using a hotkey you assign.

You could try to program your own shortcut with AutoHotkey - Free Mouse and Keyboard Macro Program with Hotkeys and AutoText

CloseAll

I have used a freeware program called CloseAll. It closed all open programs as soon as you hit the shortcut.
