I just wanted to post about my experience with windows 7 on my laptop....

My Laptop specs are the following:

Acer Aspire 2930
Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 cpu @ 2.00GHZ and 2MB L2 cache
4GB of DDR2 RAM @ 800mhz
250GB HD
Intel GMA 4500MHD Graphics Core

I installed the RC version of Windows 7 32bit found on Microsoft's site and updated all the drivers ( Chipset, Sata controler, sound, video)

I updated the graphics driver from windows update -

And after all was installed - I couldn't believe how fast windows 7 was!!!

I mean, i downloaded a HD video encoded in H.264 and played it back in Windows Media Player 12 - and the cpu usage was around 4-5% average during video playback?!?! I couldn't believe that , especially with the intergrated graphics from Intel!!!

Wow, i thought Intel graphics were very bad - but after my expereince with windows 7 - I may totally wrong!

Please note, I do not do any gaming - and intel graphics just wont cut it for gaming - but for video playback and everyday stuff - Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics just work with windows 7 !

I'm just VERY pleased that my notebook acutally works better - SO much better when it comes to media playback! And HD video playback with very low cpu usage - was just unbelievalbe - with these Intel Graphics! (I didnt think it was ever going to happen/was possible)

What do you think?

me too.

i have compaq CQ20-317TU with T6400 processor and the same graphic card as yours. i just installed windows 7 build 7100 and i got 4.9 mark on graphics performance index. thats a LEAP from 3.1 mark i got with vista..

but when i tried to connect it to samsung 32" LCD, i cant find the way to set the resolution to 1366x768 as samsung recommends me, so i tried to install graphic driver to standard latest compaq driver i installed in vista previously, in order to get the resolution settings back via graphic card control panel.

but the performance index drops to 3.1 again.

i searched online everywhere and can not find the latest graphic cards packed with the 7100 installation. now i am trying to reinstall the windows back.

do you have any solution to have flexible settings in my display resolution instead of fixed resolution settings the control panel gave to us?

W7 is looking like a beautifully refined OS, one that is finally taking advantage of the exceedingly powerful hardware we have. Glad you're enjoying it, we all are. ;)

Yeah I have the X3100 and get about 30fps on CS:S now, but I do believe my bottleneck is the 1.5ghz C2D, as CS;S only uses one core.
