Experiencing BSOD while doing shut down/hibernate

For the last two months, I am not able to shut down/hibernate cleanly. In addition, my windows update is also not able to check for updates.

After working for half an hour after starting, various applications hang.

I have Windows 7 32 bit Home premium

I installed SP1 but still it didnt help

I am not able to attach the dump as it is taking very long

I have never reinstalled my OS.

My system is around 2 years old
