Experts Please help !!!!!!!!

Last week, I bought Acer 7736G 17.3" Laptop
Preinstalled W7
Core 2 Duo T6600
4GB RAM
NVidia 512 mb
500GB hdd

Enthusiastically, I did the full installation of Ubuntu 9.10 for dual boot
Both of them worked fine.

Prepared the Acer eRecovery Disk for factory default setup in future.

I wanted to uninstall Ubuntu
Problem was Ubuntu had done the partition of 250 gb

Googled the issue and someone had suggested using EasyBCD
Used it and reinstalled Vista Reloader

Machine restarted and started to show errors
Ox0000034 etc........None of the OS were working.

More enthusiastically, Used the same Ubuntu 9.10 Cd and
did the Clean install this time.

Now, I don't want Ubuntu - its working ok although I am not too familiar with the OS

I tried to put the ACER eRecovery DVDs

it says, windows is loading file and
starting windows and

the error message

FAIL. WINDOWS CANNOT INSTALL DISK 0 PARTITION 1

Please help.

The reason that it cant install is that the partition has been formated as an ext4 file system... do the following...

Boot the Ubuntu cd into live mode.... use gparted from the applications menu to create a 50gb partition as an NTFS partition... reinstall Windows 7 on the 50gb partition that you just made... you should then be good to go...

If I read your post correctly, you want to restore the laptop to the original Acer configuration, with Windows 7 only. If that is correct, then you have a few options.

It sounds like the recovery DVD is expecting one particular partition table configuration on the hard disk, which was altered by the Ubuntu installation.

Does the Acer recovery DVD allow you to alter the partitions? If so, delete all partitions and then perform the full recovery.

If not, you can reboot the Ubuntu CD, proceed with the installation until you get the hard disk partition options, then manually delete all the partitions. Without proceeding any further, reboot the laptop, and insert the Acer recovery DVD, and perform the recovery.

Thanks to the input

ran the Live CD ubuntu and partitioned the hdd to 50gb and named it as C
i don't know what will happen to the remaining 400+ gb of hdd.

The recovery disk ran successfully [although it did not give any option to partition the disk]
Now, ............

Acer will mail you Recov disks free of charge within 90 days of purchase.

You say the recov disk was able to run but didn't recover your Windows 7, most likely due to an existing GRUB loader bollixing the startup.

At this point I would boot into a Win7 repair CD or installer repair console and run Startup Repair 3 times to attempt to recover the boot.

However, recovery disk if run successfully should have accomplished this by taking control of the boot - if they ran sucessfully. Did they appear to complete installation?

If you have faith in the integrity of recov disk, then I would completely zero (or at least format) the HDD and reboot into the recovery disk to let them run without GRUB interference.

You really need to locate a Win7 installer to clean reinstall which will activate with your OEM license, and be useable for repairs. Or at least make a repair CD in backup center.

Basically, I downloaded a Bootit and used it to replace GRUB with MBR and the whole thing came back to control again.
