Hi guys,
For several weeks I've been having intermittent Explorer crashes. I configured Windows to create dump files when it happens and here are the 2 latest ones.

Can anybody decipher them for me?

Thanks.

Hello khodges,

The explorer crash was probably caused by a module of Google Drive, specifically googledrivesync64.dll.

What I would recommend is to uninstall Google Drive or rename the googledrivesync64.dll in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Drive folder to googledrivesync64.old

Cheers /Boris :)

Marked part isn't recommended as that would cause more instability and Google Drive crashing.

That is what some MVP at some M$ forum suggested.

Thanks Boris.

It seems clear that renaming the DLL will either incapacitate Google Drive or make it unstable. Uninstalling Google Drive is not an option for me.

I'll rename the DLL for a day or two to see what happens. In the meantime I can search for solutions through Google.

Thanks again for your help in reading the DMP file.

@axe0 I think it was just to test whether the issue really was due to the GDrive.

@khodges747 well maybe a reinstallation then, maybe this dll is broken somehow?

Thanks for identifying the DLL causing the crash. That allowed me to do a google search and find a solution.

If I turn off the option to "Show file sync status icons and right click menu" in the Google drive settings (advanced tab, last checkbox, see attached PNG), the problem goes away. No more explorer crashes since yesterday.

If there are no more crashes by tomorrow, I'll mark this thread solved.

Thanks for your help.
