This is the 2nd time explorer.exe keeps crashing, the 1st time it happened computer lasted a few months before it happened and then I wiped the SSD and did a re-install.

Now it's only been a few weeks since I reinstalled windows and it's crashed again.

What can be causing this, is it a bad SSD?

I've tried running/opening explorer.exe through task manager but it crashes right away. I've attached a couple of screen shots of the error I get when trying to run explorer.exe through task manager.

What antivirus program are you running? Sometimes c0000005 is a virus/malware problem.

I was running security essentials and pretty sure it was active.

Is there a solution other than reinstalling windows again? . I don't have easy access to the disk at the moment so I'd really love to be able to fix this somehow.

Does anyone have any solutions at all?

Please download VEW by Vino Rosso http://images.malwareremoval.com/vino/VEW.exe
and save it to your desktop
Double click it to start it Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to right click the file and select Run as administrator and click Continue or Allow at the User Account Control Prompt.

Click the check boxes next to Application and System located under Select log to query on the upper left
Under Select type to list on the right click the boxes next to Error and Warning Note: If running Windows Vista or Windows 7 also click the box next to Critical (not XP).

Under Number or date of events select Number of events and type 20 in the box next to 1 to 20 and click Run

My desktop isn't viewable since Explorer.exe isn't running.

How can I save & run file as administrator another way?

Windows crashed AGAIN for 3rd time, now different reason.

So windows has crashed for the 3rd time in last 2 months, it's only been a week since the last install. Can't remember the error issue the 2nd time, but now it has a different reason.

Any idea what this is? Seems it's happening with auto updates maybe?

Having a hard time getting my bios settings to save, every time I try to change boot settings so it boots from Windows Cd first to try and repair it, but it just tolls right into Windows. Tried like 10 times. I'm so fed up with this system.

RE: Thread Title

Are you saying explorer.exe has crashed or are you saying Windows has crashed?

If you mean explorer.exe - the reasons for it crashing can be hard to pin down. Read through this information here:

http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lo...bleshooting-explorer-exe-crashing-issues.html

Confirm that you mean explorer.exe crashing but do not perform any of the steps mentioned in the above link just yet.
