Explorer Preview Pane - Previews Not Displayed

I have enabled the Preview Pane (Organize/Layout/Preview Pane) and the preview pane is displayed.
However, the only preview that is displayed is *.jpg.
Other files such as *.doc, *.docx, *.xls, *.txt and .eml are not displayed.
Any Ideas what is wrong?
Also I understand that there is someway to preview *.pdf
Any help would be much appreciated.

For anyone else who experiences the same problem, the solution is to enable;

Tools/Folder Options/Views/Show Preview Handlers in Preview Pane

Not true unless it's because I am using Office 2002, jpg images show ok but doc files do not but rtf files do.

Same problem here. My PDF previews and Microsoft Office previews are blank (just see a white space). It does not say preview not available, just blank.

Win 7 Pro 32bit
