I'm hoping that this will be quick and easy to answer...I found a theme that I like and downloaded/installed it. Everything works/looks great, except the theme comes with a ExplorerFrame.dll file, and I don't know what to do with it. I'm assuming you replace the original file with it? I don't even know where the original file is located tho...

Thanks :)!

Seeing that you have x64 version of windows. You have to replace the files in both system32 & syswow64 folders. It's located in windows folder.

D3ftOn3Z is right make sure the theme came with a 32bit & 64 bit file or it will not work,
You need to take ownership of the ExplorerFrame.dll
first then change the name then copy new ExplorerFrame.dll in it's place.

For 32bit files:..........

browse to location

"drive:\windows\System32\explorerframe.dll "

1.Take Ownership of these the file.

2.Rename those the file to 'explorerframe.BAK'.

3.Now Copy the new ExplorerFrame.dll file to "drive:\windows\System32\" .

4.Restart to make changes.

For 64bit files:..........

browse to location

"drive:\windows\SysWOW64\explorerframe.dll"

1.Take Ownership of these the file.

2.Rename those the file to 'explorerframe.BAK'.

3.Now Copy the new ExplorerFrame.dll file to "drive:\windows\SysWOW32\" .

4.Restart to make changes.
Take Ownership
Right click on the file and go to 'properties'.
Click on the 'security' tab.
Click 'Advanced'.
Click on the 'Owner' tab.
Click 'Edit'.
Select your user and click OK.
Click OK on the next box.
Then OK on the final box.

Now right click on the file again and go to 'Properties'
Click on the 'security' tab.
Click 'Edit'.
Select 'Users'.
In the bottom part of the box, tick the box to allow 'Full Control'
Click OK then OK again on the last box.

You now own that file and have full permissions over it.

Now simply right click and 'rename' the extension of the file to .BAK
Then paste in your replacement file.
