I can't remember what I was testing out when I screwed up my system with this problem but a every start upI receive a message box and have to choose 'no' before I can proceed. The box is headed "express.exe.
The message is:

"This application needs one of the following versions of the Net Framework:
.NETFramework, version=v.4.5.2.
Do you want to instal this .NETFramework version now?"

I've looked express.exe in the program list to uninstall it.
I've looked for C:\Program Files\nch software\express\express.exe. - there's no nch sub folder in my list.
Neityer Malwarebytes nor Trend Micro Housecall has identified it as a nasty but I just want to get rid of the message. As soon as the desktop opens, up pops this wretched message.

Try these first . . .

[1] Use a System Restore Point prior to this happening.

[2] Download and run Revo Uninstaller [FREE] from here => Revo Uninstaller. When you run scan for leftover items make sure that you use the Advanced Scan option, then tick everything and delete it.

I hope this helps!

Hi & Greets to both of you!

1.As said by Sir, you can use a System Restore Point or a System Image made previous to the event.
( Even I would advise to make a System Image at least now. While troubleshooting, you can elevate the problem : See : Macrium Reflect Free )

2.You can use Revo Uninstaller Free with System Components checked in Options, so that all the things are shown.
The free version doesn't pick remnants once the main software is uninstalled. May be you need to install Revo Uninstaller Pro (Trial) to pick & remove all the leftovers which were left by previous uninstallations.

3.When you used Malwarebytes. etc. & ran the scans, did you disable the other security programs ? Because when you have a strong infection, it jumps between the influence areas of multiple active security apps.
Malware & Viruses : General Information
( Need not disable Windows Firewall ) ( I won't suggest using AVG or AdwCleaner )

I would advise scans with free versions of Malwarebytes , SUPERAntiSpyware and ESET’s Free Online Scanner
( While installing MBAM & SuperAntispyware, Opt out of Trial & Real time protection! )

4.
I've looked express.exe in the program list to uninstall it.
I've looked for C:\Program Files\nch software\express\express.exe. - there's no nch sub folder in my list.
Why you looked for that ? Were you prompted in such a way ? It won't show as express.exe in the installed programs. Which NCH software you installed ? What do you mean ?

5. Its possible that a Startup Entry or a Startup Program which launches on startup, needs / launches / tries to install Net 4.5.2. You can disable that program at startup with Autoruns & check the status then.
( Using Autoruns to Deal with Startup Processes and Malware )

6. You can also download & install the latest .Net Framework 4 version & check the status then.
.NET Framework 4.8

Thanks & Regards. ...
