Hi there

Please Help? I extended my drive volume before doing a backup now the data that was on that drive are not visible.
The drive I extended was the main drive with the windows 7 64-bit operating system and is still functioning like normal ( just larger )
Are there a way to undo or fix this without losing my data?

My drive was partitioned into a 200GB & 700GB partition with the 200 being the C drive. All my data was backed up on the 700GB partition. I removed the 700GB partition then used the unlocated space to extend the 200GB partition Now there's only one partition that shows as a 930GB C Drive but the data that was on the 700GB can not be read.
Please help this was all my kids photo's from growing up:cry::cry::cry:

The only way would be to rebuild the original partitiontables.
But that's for experts.
There are companies who could do that.

Is it possible to recover data from a 4GB Kingston memory stick that was formated?

Hi

I managed to recover the folders I needed with a program called getdataback for ntfs.
My photo's are all there but some of my other files like pdf & other formats does not open even though they show the right extention. Are there a way to fix this?

1. Is it from the internal drive you had extended?

2. What do you mean by saying you had recovered the folders you needed? Were you able to copy those folders/files to another media and read them?

To my understanding GetDataBack for NTFS has a paid version only. With the demo version you can only preview and if you want to really recover what you have seen, you have to buy it and enter the licence key to be able to recover those. May be the reason why so many files do not open. ( Don't tell you had used a pirated version. Piracy is not condoned here.)

As for recovering files from the extended drive is concerned, you must have forthwith stopped using Windows and tried to recover the files with a bootable external device running Partition Wizard or another OS, or any other recovery program like TestDisk/PhotoRec running in DOS. If you continue using Windows before recovery, Windows may overwrite many files in the annexed extended space and to that extent your recovered files may be corrupt and some may even be lost unrecoverably.

Hi

Yes at the time it was an internal drive but after the partition error I removed the drive & used another drive with windows and recovery software as c: drive. After using the recovery software I could copy the software to my other disk but could only open some files & photo's.

I have heard good things about GetDataBack for NTFS. Some who tried the demo version were impressed enough to buy a license @ 80USD. ( I have confirmed that with the demo version one cannot save the files.). If you had purchased a license and found issues with using the licenced version such as unreadable files recovered, the right thing would be to contact the Tech Support of Runtime Software, who may know their child better.
