I've just installed and setup a wireless extender for a friend of mine whose wireless 3com router was upstairs and had very poor coverage downstairs for his laptop ... I can highly recommend the Netgear WN2000RPT WiFi Range Extender simple to setup and easy to use and works like a charm ... I'm not trying to advertise equipment just trying to share my experience and if anyone has issues like this, give it a go (works even better if the router is a netgear aswell)
