External Drive cannot be accessed in windows 7
Hi. I have a seagate External Hard drive and recently I've upgraded my ASUS K40IN Windows Vista to Windows 7, now I am unable to get my ext Hard drive to be recognised. Someone told me that it could be the USB driver is not updated, Is that true? Can anyone help me please. Thanks

Ok go to your Device Manager and locate the device, does it have a yellow exclamation mark on it?

Yes, it works with other computers. It seems that my External Hard Drive cannot work in Windows 7. I have a laptop running on XP and Mac and it works perfectly fine.

Yes the drive exist. On Sunday I tried using my niece Laptop with Win 7, and it has the same problem, the drive is shown in "My Computer" but access denied. My brother used his other ext hard drive and his ext hard druive works on my Win 7. I am puzzled.

Are there is data on this HDD. Data corruption or device lockdown could prevent you from accessing, ie BitLocker On the Go.

Goto your Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Storage > Disk Management

the permissions on the drive are not allowing you to access it. (or its encrypted) you can try the "take ownership" toturial and see if that lets you access the drive. Is there anything on the drive that you need?
