Hi Guys.

I need some advices regarding my external eSata drive. It runs at very low speed (50 MB/s) its only a 400 Mbit/s. As I know it should run at 3000 Mbit/s. Can someone help me with that...?

Thanx a lot

PS: I have Asus P5Q3 Delux motherB with external eSata port.

I think you may have set your expectations just a bit too high. 3Gbps would work out to nearly 375MB/s with no overhead.

Number 1: if this is a standard mechanical hard drive....the fastest possible speed you will get is around 120MB/s...which would be around 1000Mbit/sec. Since the drive cannot go any faster than this, the actual speed of the interface is irrelevant.

Next: if you are copying lots of smaller files, you will notice that it slows down quite a bit. You are only going to hit max speed when copying 1 single large file.

My experience shows that eSATA usually runs about 2-3x as fast as USB 2.0. So, around 50-90MB tops.
