external hard drive

my computor crashed and died so i bought lenovo and got a encloser case by sabrent installed the hard drive from the old computor running xp (it does have a boot directorie) new computor is running 7 i am able to see the drive with no letter in admin on the controle panel but am unable to access it... any ideas lot of files and pics i want to save... thanks

Try going to Disk Management an assigning a drive letter to it.
