Solved External hdd renames itself after an image file i mounted cant rename

Hi , im having diifficulty renaming my external hard drive, it renamed itself after an image file i mounted and the icon of the harddrive is missing aswell. I tried changing it via rename aswell as selecting properties. However when i open the properties of the hdd it displayes the same name i chose but when i close the properties it still retains a name i dont want.

assistance will be greatly appreciated

Open Control Panel then Folder Options.
Click on the view tab and uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).

Now browse the external drive and look for a desktop.ini file in the root of the drive. If there, delete it.

See if that gets the name straight again.

You can check Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) again when done.
