Is it possible to install windows 7 home premium on a external 320 GB Hard disk?

No, MS spends quite a bit of effort in their engineering to see that Win7 won't work on an external drive. Otherwise people could carry their OS around in a pocket.

Even if it could be loaded to and booted from the external, it is hideously slow. The process to install XP to USB is one of the most complicated on the web.
