external hdd

I have a buffalo external and the hdd was bad after changing to samsung ,it shows up as a cd-rom and at disc management it shows up as a not initialized and when I choose to initialize it says the disc is not ready.I can not format nothing nada.

How did you try to intialize it?

Left click on the disc name at disc management section.
