External SSD Drive Error, thinks it was formatted

We have multiple SSD that we use for video shoots and connect to our computers with Thermal Take Black X Docks. Yesterday I formatted one drive (called SSD3) and removed it from the dock. I then inserted another drive (Should be called SSD2) and it gave me an error saying the drive file system was damaged or corrupt. It was calling the drive SSD3 and showing the fresh formatted file system that was on SSD3. For some reason it still thought it was the other drive and now seems to have rewritted the header info or something, because now even if I try and connect it to another computer using a different dock it still reads it as SSD3. And it thinks it has been formatted. I need the video files off of the drive. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone.

ssds are a bad idea for video, you'll want to have a look at HDD raid with hardware controllers (LSI, Areca).

I would guess that this is a "freak" accident that can be undone..

Just try this and report.

Remove all drives from your dock. Also remove all other storage devices/usb hubs/card readers/USB printers from the USB port if connected- all except your dock,USB mouse and USB Keyboard.

Now plug in your SSD3 which you had formatted, into the dock..

View that SSD3 in Windows Disk Management.( Can you also post a screenshot?) In the leftmost part of the disk map where it shows the small disk icon, right click on it. In the menu shown click on offline to take it offline. Again right click on the disk icon and make it online. In other words you will make it offline and then again online.

Now plugout your SSD3 and plugin your SSD2. Is it OK now?

recovery software.

rereading your post i'm guessing you're not editing on the drive, but your camera/recorder uses ssds for capture.
you could tell the manufacturer that the camera ejected unformated, see what they say.

Sure I seem to have missed it. That puts me in the dock.

It does seem that the OP uses the SSDs on the camera to capture video. But after the shoot connects it to the PC through the dock.

He formatted SSD3. Where was SSD2 then? Was it also in the dock? OP needs to clarify.I know he said he plugged out SSD3 and then inserted SSD2 but let the OP confirm it again.He should also clarify whether SSD2 was behaving normally in the dock before.

He may also do well to show both his SSD2 and SSD3 in Windows Disk Management through the dock.
