External storage

I'm looking at getting an external storage device to store my files on, and I can't decide what to get.

Is there a massive difference between between an external hardrive, and a Desktop hard drive?

These are the ones I can't decide from..

Hitachi 1Tb 3.5 inch Desktop Hard Drive | Littlewoods.com

And...

Western Digital 1TB Elements External Hard Drive | Littlewoods.com

Is there much difference between the two? Which one would suit me better?

I'm running a samsung rv510 laptop.

Thanks for the reply, I've already got 2 x 60gb old laptop harddrives in an enclosure, which I've filled!!

You said that they both look like fine units, but you didnt answer my question, is there much difference between the two? And which one would suit my needs better?

They are both 1tb in storage size, both from reputable mfg's, both have ext power source. WD is more expensive than the Hitachi. Your choice, as I think either will do what you want.
