Extra Keys & Activation? Please Help.

Hi -

I was under the impression that i could get Win 7, which i did full legit copy, and install in on my computers. The problem is that i can't activate it on any of the other computers i installed it on. I get a box asking me to buy other keys but only get taken to buying the whole OS over again. Is there not an option to buy multiple licenses for the OS? I do not want to buy the OS for each of my computers in my home, i have 5, i just can't afford that. So am i out of luck?

Sorry, but you will need a separate key for each installation.

Yes, you are out of luck. Sorry champ. Corporate companies/schools/IT professionals can get these multi key options. But most every day people cant. Sorry.

I think you can buy keys through Windows Anytime Upgrade...?!? No?

I imagine there are places you can buy keys, but they would cost the same as a copy of Windows 7. $120 for an Upgrade license, more for a full license.

but i not use the upgrade i bought the full version of Ultimate 64, how would that works for me?

If you don't have a previous OS installed, you need to buy the full version.

If you don't have a previous OS on your 5 machines, you will need to buy 5 full copies.

What a bumma' I can't get Win 7 to run on my £800 laptop without buying a licence. Go figure?

You don't need Ultimate if you aren't using Bitlocker or hosting Remote Desktop.

not all pcs are mine, i said home, they are family pcs. not any of them are new. i not talk about buying upgrades but thank anyway.

MS policy has always been buy one license per computer.
There are a lot of urban legends such as "you can have it installed on two computers, you just can't use them both at the same time, etc." or other BS like that.

Microsoft, as well as other companies..have just sharpened their skills when it comes to knowing how many times a product has been activated and/or how many different computers you've installed it on.

As said, volume licensing is available to corporate customers...not home end users.
Legitimate students are often offered deep discounts on Microsoft Products as well...

Asking Microsoft to give you one Key/Serial to work on 5 different computers is like you taking your car key out to a parking lot and expecting it to open 5 different vehicles and let you get in and drive them....
Just ain't happenin'.
