Hi everybody

I have a MC recording of a UK Freeview Radio broadcast. I can play the .WTV file in a variety of players but I want to extract the audio stream to edit it and store in a more compressed format. I have tried several tools that can handle .wtv files directly (VirtualDub, MceBuddy and Windows Live Movie Maker), but none of them seem to able to handle the fact that there is no video stream.

Any ideas on some software that can do this, preferably free.

Thanks

You should be able to do this with ffmpeg. I have used it many times to extract audio from files.

Have a look at the ffmpeg documentation here: FFmpeg documentation : :

And ffmpeg is of course FREE!

After much testing, I cannot find a combination FFmpeg parameters that work, there seems to be a problem with the file being a WTV container, dvr-ms files don't seem to have the problem but I can't convert the radio recordings to this format, the converter produces an error with radio recordings.

I have found a commercial package that does this but money is so tight that I need a freeware solution.

Any ideas?
