So one day I boot my computer up and it says
"windows failed to start a recent hardware change might be the cause"
It give me two options "launch Startup repair" or "Start windows normally". I do the launch start up and goes through everything and says its ok now and to restart, so I do. But once it hits a certain point about 10secs into the start up it restart. It does it every time.
I try to run it in safe mode but it restarts at the same point. I got tired of it and tried to reinstall windows. But it wont even boot from my disk (I tested it on another computer and the disk works) it just is a black screen with a flashing underscore and the CD drive is spinning repetitively. I did set the right boot order. Then I tried to boot from my usb. changed the boot order of course but still doesnt work.
I tried to go to f5 then f8 and run "repair" but doesnt work. it just stays on my blue log-in background screen with my cursor on it.

Im totally stumped.... Anyone know what I can do?

Try reseting you BIOS in the bios' main screen. You can't do anything else with the softwares as far as it doesn't boot up properly.

Im not great with computers but do you mean going to "f9 setup defults" in my BIOS menu? or do I have to manually do it?

Yes, that is precisely what we mean. The BIOS has a function whereby all of its settings are restored to the factory default. An alternative method would be to briefly disconnect the motherboard battery, usually a CR2032 coin cell type (see manual for details).

Even after resetting the BIOS, it still does the same thing... I was searching of the location of the battery for my HP DV2000 but i couldnt find much.

Would it be this?

I believe this is my CMOS battery. I read that unplugging it for 5mins can hard reset my BIOS. correct?

Ok so I was able to get to the windows installation screen! got up to 55% then I got an error code "0x80070570". I goggled this code and found a few solutions. I tried all the ones that I could do but one. Thats' deleting my windows temp installation files. But I cant get to them since it keeps restarting before it can start up and I cant get into safe mode.

Anyone know what I can do?

[edit]
I also tried to comand prompt "cd\windows\temp". then "del *.*" then "Y" for yes
Still get the error code
"Windows cannot install required files. the file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570"

If you have an image of your system, why don't you try booting with the Rescue Disk and restore to your image.

I dont have a image of my system. or i dont think I do. but when I try that from my windows 7 install I get this message

"Re-image your comupter: Windows cannot find a system image on this computer. Attach the backup hard disk or insert the final DVD from a backup set and click retry."

 i hope I dont need a new laptop. Im too poor for one. haha but Im totally stumped

[update]

So just for kicks I tired to boot it up to see if it still restarts. But it wont even load now. With no usb or disk, when I start it up to goes to a black screen and at the bottom says "loading window files" then goes to the "Startup Repair". But is says that it cant repair my computer automatically and if I want to send or not send the info to Microsoft. It does the same thing when I try to boot in safe mode...

May I ask how old this laptop is? I get the feeling it has been through the mill over a few years.

I had this laptop for a while~ maybe 3years. I'd hate to have to get a new one, but if there's no other way.
I read that formatting the partition will help but delete everything. At this point, I didnt care. But now when I boot it up it says "BOOTMGR is missing Press ctrl+alt+del to restart". I tried the command prompt thats suppose to fix it but it didnt.

Yeah, maybe it's time to give yourself a present with the latest stuff in it and more RAM, better video card, more powerful CPU etc. Prices are good too.:D
