I sign into an emulator for work and have to use my F keys extensively. It is way too much trouble to hold down the FN key at the bottom of the keyboard. Does anyone know how to turn off the pre-defined functions of the F keys and use them as they are mapped on my emulator?

Thank you.

Some FN keys can't be mapped, as they are special function keys, rather than standard keys.

If you tap the Fn key once won't it just swap between modes?

No. You have to hold the FN key down to make F keys work the way they used to. Exp FN F5 to refresh vs F5 to brighten the screen. I want the F5 to refresh without having to hold down the FN key each time.

Gotcha. Checked the BIOS for potential settings?

Can you provide some more information, such as the make and model number of your computer. Without that, there is little we can do to help.

F Key Fix

I don't know if you've found the solution to this problem yet, but I was having the same issue and found that if you go to setup (press F2 when the logo appears after you turn it on), go to "system>function" and you'll see at the top there is a place to toggle the F Keys function! Whew! Thought that was going to be problem!! I found the answer in the manual that I downloaded from Dell.
