My ISP supplies AV SW i.e. F-Secure...
I cant find out which version it is i.e. it is heavily branded by ISP

Features:

The PC Protection pack comes with:

Anti-virus
Detects and stops malware that can attack computers can be received by email through removable media, or when content is downloaded from the internet.

Anti-spyware
Detects and removes spyware from your computer

Firewall
Protects your computer against hackers

Spam Filter
Helps you stay free from spam email and phishing attempts

Parental Controls
Allows you to control your internet settings and set different access levels so that you can protect your children from accessing unsuitable or unwanted web content

Updates
Automatic virus and spyware definition updates help protect you from new threats.

It's free for 3 months.... After that they charge $5 a month to keep...

How do I find out which version it is?? There's nothing on ISP site & the software itself doesnt have much detail available...

NB, I was using ESET & MSE before. They ran in parallel with out any issues.
ESET did miss a trojan that MSE picked up & dealt with...

ESET was with old ISP... so had to uninstall. (only used for 2 weeks) :gorse-in-pockets:
F-Secure wouldnt install until it had removed MSE!?

It seems pretty thorough & easy to use...

Any thoughts or comments welcome ;)

$5pm! eek. Why do people feel the need to pay for anti virus. Just stick MSE on there and superantispyware as your malware scanner and youl be ok. Remembering to uninstall the current lot of course. Im sure others will recommend a good firewall. Windows Live Essentials includes parental controls for free.

Downloads

Superantispyware: SUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!
Windows Live: Windows Live Essentials 2011 (you can just select parental controls from the list if you dont wish to download the whole pack)

Check out these sites:

F-Secure performed and scored well in some tests. It has plenty of features and the detection rates are high and are almost at par with industry-leading antivirus software such as ESET, Kaspersky, etc. so it should be worth having and keeping. :)

F-secure sells for $59.99 on their own site for the latest 2011 version. 1 year licence with a renewal fee of $45.99 per year

The ISP is charging $60 a year for a product that may or may not be the latest product

Even if I were tempted to go for the product rather than a free alternative pure logic would exclude the ISP offering,

MSE is better, F-secure is well known to cause BSODs and other system problems

This is the 2002 system I am going to replace with a new home build.

:cough: :geek:

under current conversion rates ^^ €59.90 = $104.47 (My local currency) i.e. I will pay $60 pa of my local currency ^^ (after first 3 months trial [& if I keep it])

Nearly half price!!

Have found issues in past using 'trial period' AV... they tend to clash if you dont remove all traces of prior trial ware, when installing new...

+ running multiple sw tends to consume greater resources... I like an all-in-one solution :zip:

Might just ring & ask if it's latest & greatest ^^

Hopefully there'll be no BSOD! :yikes:

But... every thing is backed up @ mo... so have a safety net.

Thnx all for comments :)
