Solved fail to boot

Hello,

I have a problem. Here is the situation. I started out with a two 500 gig raid striped hdd running windows 7. I recently acquired a 1tb wd black hdd and installed a fresh copy of win7 on that while the previous RAID setup was still active so I could easily copy files over to the 1tb as needed. The 1tb drive is also part of the RAID as a non-member disk.

The problem I am having is that without the original hdd's, windows will not boot on the 1tb hdd alone. It seems as though the boot information is all on the striped setup. When they are active, I have a choice to select the original os on the striped hdd, or the new one on the 1tb. I ran windows repair with the 1tb hdd alone and it said there was no system disk, but said it repaired, yet it still asks me to insert valid boot media in bios.

Anyone know how to make my 1tb drive bootable without the RAID drives present?

Boot up using the Startup Repair CD or Windows 7 DVD. (not the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disk) If you have a Netbook, you will need a CD/DVD drive.​

NOTE: Make sure no USB drives are plugged in.

Do not use a USB Pendrive for Startup Repair.​

With only the 1tb plug in,
1) Use the Rebuild BCD in this tutorial:
How to use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows



2) FIxMBR.




Do a Strartup Repair:

when I do bcd using the only the 1tb, It recognizes C:\Windows, but when I attempt to add installation to boot list I get the error "element not found." When I run "bcedit /export C:\BCD_Backup" I get "the store export operation has failed. The requested system device cannot be found"

It recognizes the C:\Windows until I try to execute commands on it and then it isn't recognized.

Have you had a look at this tutorial to mark Active and do the 3 separate startup repairs to the 1TB with it being the only Hard Disk Drive connected?

ok, marking them active has now made C: recognizeable and both rebuildbcd and fixmbr were reported successful, I am now going to run startup repair 3 times and see if it worked. Thank you very much Bare Foot Kid!

bootmgr is missing.... There are now 0 system devices recognized

Is there any way to write a new bootmgr to the disk?

Not clear to me what situation you are in.

Are you unable to boot into any windows at all?
