If you're going to install Windows 8 anyhow - why ask for support for Windows 7?
If you actually want to fix Win7...

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Apparently NoelDP misread your post. The OP never mentioned Windows 8.

The OP was saying that they would try to install 8 updates at a time instead of the full 146 updates. I must have waited a good 20 minutes for the 146 update download and install and then try to configure after I restarted.

I also had 146 updates available and had the same issues as the OP.

I would install any of the .NET framework stuff separately. Install the Internet Explorer 9 separate from the IE11 update.

Good luck! It's too bad there isn't a cumulative patch for all these tiny little updates.

Nope. No mention of Win8.

OP had 146 updates. 50 were successful and 96 failed.

One or more updates seem to be creating a loop of failed installs so the OP said they will try doing "8 at a time" to see if it works.

I chose about 22-24 at a time, and separated out security updates from the others, until I got all updates installed.

Feel free to assume what you want, but I don't want others to dismiss the issue due to your comment. His comment about installing a smaller number of updates helped me out.
