Failure Downloading Service Pack SP1, Error Code 80070005

Hello, I'm new to these forums so I apologize ahead of time if I don't manage to explain everything I should. If that is the case, please ask for whatever information I need provide and I'll do my best to find it.

The problem goes as this: I've tried automatically and manually installing the service pack SP1 (Which is a requirement for a number of programming languages to install/run on a computer, thus why I need it), and whilst my computer seems to have no problem downloading all of the other updates, this one always fails and returns the "80070005 ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED" error message.

Now, ahead of time so you all know where I'm at with this: I've already tried repairing windows from the original CD, I've also tried changing the permissions of the windows folder and all of it's subfolders using a mix of the subinacl tool and command prompt, I've also tried resetting all of the updates and downloading them all over again.

Since I know it's common practice for you to ask for my CBS log file, I'm going to post the errors it returned instead of the whole thing since it's far too large for me to paste to the internet at the present moment, even using pastebin/hastebin (It will literally crash my browser).

Here's the link to the errors: https://hastebin.com/xesicelamo.vbs

Now, I assume this has something to do with a missing registry value, however I don't work in tech support and my knowledge base regarding the registry and errors pertaining to it is very limited.

If anyone can shed any light on this situation or help in any way, I would very much appreciate it. ^^ Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope you can all help.

Hi StacksofCards,

As you've been playing with permissions to try and solve the problem, in reality youve possibly made it worse.

Its also likely that you cant remember what youve changed, this makes troubleshooting the problem extremely problematic, needle in a haystack springs to mind.

The easiest and quickest way round this would be to get you a W7 SP1 install disc.
Please run this tool, copy/paste the output, if it comes back clean i'll post a link

@aakkam22 I tried it, both Fix-it and SURT for 64-bit systems ran and concluded without error. However, the problem still persists.

@torchwood Ahhh, I see. Here's the output for the MGA Diagnostic Tool: https://hastebin.com/zupigugejo.xml

Thank you both for your assistance. ^^

Hi Stack,
from the tool,
Licensing Data--> C:\Windows\system32\slmgr.vbs(22, 1) Microsoft VBScript runtime error: ActiveX component can't create object: 'Scripting.Dictionary'
Thats whats killing it,

from a run command
regsvr32 vbscript.dll

now please check this from an elevated command mode (copy/paste it in)
reg query HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}\InprocServer32

Output should read
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-0AA004A55E8}\InprocServer32
(Default) REG_SZ C:\Windows\system32\vbscript.dll
ThreadingModel REG_SZ Both (the important bit)

If not please copy/paste.

torchwood I ran the commands successfully and they returned exactly what you said they would. Where should I go from here?

Hi Stack,
hoping it would come back Different, so i could fix it:confused:,

REBOOT
then re-run the tool, re-registering the dll might have cleared it

IF the errors still there and
as i said earlier looking like a clean install.

I edited in a link in my last post
copy it to a cd then you've got W7 SP1
(just copy any data you need to an external device)
Change your boot order to CD first
And away you go.

torchwood I'm still not entirely sure what the problem was in the first place, but I had a feeling that I might have to reinstall. The good news is, I have a Windows 7 Disc already here that I can use to fresh install and a new hard drive I've ordered so I can install it on that.

Thank you for all of your help even though we couldn't fix it. ^^
