I was trying out different configurations. Was looking for any performance differences with the page file located in different spots on the HD. Also was looking at differences between file system types for it. I thought that having the page file on a different partition than the system reserve or operating system would speed things up but have not spent much time since BSODs started.

It seems like I have drivers that cause instability or memory leaks but have been unable to get a handle on properly diagnosing and correcting.

Looking at System Restore now in Safe Mode. Will that affect the outcome?

System restore, restores systems files. If one of your system files has become corrupt or damaged then this will help.
