Fake Amazon e-mails floating around now...

Hi, just a heads up...

Today I've received two e-mails from an unknown source claiming I should receive an order in I placed in the next coming days with either a link or zip file to click on to view. Here's a sample of one from "Amazon.com delivers@unlexclusive_com". (I changed the dot to an underscore to kill the link)

1 - I've placed plenty of order with Amazon to know this is a fake e-mail.

2 - the From address is a dead giveaway

3 - for me, they're using the wrong e-mail address as the address these e-mails are coming to is not one listed on my Amazon account.

Anyway please let friends and family know as not everyone is as aware as they should be in these matters. Also note that the from e-mail address may be different. Here's the second one I got with a different address: Amazon.com <delivers@emericanews-time_com>

Be Careful

I get similar ones from the US postal service saying they tried to deliver and no one was at home or something like that. They leave a link where I can arrange a delivery. I instantly seen it was a scam and I delete them. I think I have gotten three of the messages over a period of time. Good luck to every one. If I don't expect a package it is a scam for sure. I would not answer in anyway. No matter what.

I would think people would be more savvy if they haven't ordered anything from somewhere.com.

I haven't got one from some poor soul who want me to have her dead hubby's $1.4M lately.

For a while I was getting the occasional mail (supposedly) from our phone company saying they had problems running my credit card number & that my wireless would be cancelled if I didn't go to the link & update my card info. Couple things:

1) We don't have a wireless plan

2) We don't pay our phone bill with a credit card.

But they do keep trying, don't they?

They're phishing for a mark in hopes of catching those who aren't quite so aware. This is why it's important to get the world out.

I don't worry about you and I, but the less informed, especially the elderly who are just getting into PC's to keep in touch with loved ones. These are the people targeted by a lot of the scams.

I did have to make my wife aware. She has an account at a national bank and there are many phishing emails "from" it. I told her when she gets one of these "alerts" about suspicious activity or verification to use her normal way to login, DO NOT use a link in any email, they don't communicate that way.
