fallout 3 question

after numerous attempts, I finally got Fallout 3 installed on my new Pc and got it working, almost without a hitch..

Then I had to change hard drives, due to concerns about impending failure because of a blue screen ( i was advised by manufacturer to change hard drives)

So I did and thought it would be a simple thing to reinstall FO 3...

I got the Windows live patch installed (I think i have Fallout 3 live version?)

then I change compat to Vista SP 1/run as admin, create special Games/Fallout folder and install..

A few minutes into the install, I get this error message which doesn't allow me to proceed with the installation: Transfer error....d.\data2.cab...data error, cyclic redundancy check...

I tried a system restore and tried to install again and got the same error message...

Any tips for getting it installed properly? Clean the cd, delete a leftover file, anything?

I don't remember this particular problem installing FO 3 to my other hard disk and after I created the special games/fallout folder, custom installed it, and ran the set up as admin/compat Vista SP 1, it installed fine, got patched and played without a hitch...so why suddenly I have this problem installing on a new hard drive is baffling to me..

I got about halfway through FO 3 on my old hard drive and would love to finish/play the game!

thanks for any input on getting it reinstalled...

it works now, installed and playing fine as before...I didn't do anything difference, except wide the Cd with a tissue once or twice....Can a few smudges cause that lol or is FO3 just that buggy, works, doesn't work, back and forth..

Hope every game with Win 7 isn't like this!

so the HDD is from dell?

run a health check with speedfan see if its new. will tell u power hours on count, and that usually still menas cant read the data an usually faulty drive.

nothing to do with the CD as its installed, ur only trying to play now correct? so CD is not involved with it.

as it has been pointed out several times fallout 3 isnt designed for 7
